The South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department is seeking new members to enter the ranks of one of the busiest departments in Middlesex County.  

 

To join the senior fire department:

- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older

- Applicants must obtain a physical from a licensed physician stating applicant is physically fit to perform firefighting duties

- Must obtain NJDFS Firefighter I certification at a local fire academy (training will be paid for by the fire department), OR

- Possess a NJDFS Firefighter I or II certification

To join the junior fire department:

- Applicants must be between 15 to 18 years of age

- Applicants must obtain a physical from a licensed physician stating applicant is physically fit to perform firefighting duties 

- Applicants must maintain a passing grade average in school during membership at the fire department
