Effective January 1, 2010 the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Company welcomes two new Lieutenants to the officer ranks.  Firefighters Shane Lugo and Jason Campbell will both officially be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Lt Lugo joined the Fire Company in June of 1998 and also holds EMT certification from the State of New Jersey.  Lt Campbell joined in March of 1995 and is certified as a First Responder as well as being employed full time by the Monroe Township Fire Department.  Both men bring a substantial amount of knowledge to the ranks of the officers and we congratulate them on obtaining this promotion.

The Department also wishes to express our sincerest appreciation to outgoing Lieutenants Michael Gallagher and Luke Melick.  Lt Gallagher joined the department in 1994 and Lt Melick in August of 1997.  Both men have contributed in a vast way to the present success that the department enjoys.  Lt Gallagher continues to be the Middlesex County Fire Marshal and mutual aid coordinator and Lt Melick is certified as a first responder and is employed with the Monroe Township Fire Department.  We appreciate your dedication and service to both the department and the community of South Plainfield.
