INSPECTIONS
All buildings with the exception of one and two family owner occupied structures, are inspected at least annually. Violations if noted are entered into a computer database and the owner/occupant is provided with a written copy of those violations as well as a specific time period to mitigate them. Upon completion of the time period the inspector will return and conduct a reinspection of the premises. Upon finding no further violations the owner/occupant will be issued a Certificate of Compliance from the Bureau.
PERMITS
Certain operations and gatherings are required to have a permit issued by the Bureau of Fire Prevention. Please contact this office directly or download the permit application under downloads to check if you may require a permit for your specific application.
*If you are applying for an exemption for the permit fee; you must write a letter to the Mayor and Council requesting such action. The fee for a permit is only waived for local non-profit organizations who are conducting activities consistent with their organizations. The fee must be waived by resolution at a council meeting. Upon providing us with a copy of the resolution we will gladly waive the fee and provide you with a permit for your use.
